The Regalado Foundation

Words from the founder:

"My dad immigrated to this country from Honduras as a teenager to find a better life for him and his mother. After a lot of hard work and tribulation, and somehow managing to do so with a major lack of resources, he was able to attend a prestigious university, succeed in a fulfilling career, and start a family.

When I spent two years on a mission on the border of Mexico in Texas and started college myself, I sensed there was a major lack of guidance for immigrant families who move here to obtain an education, as well as for students like me who enter the university without quite enough of the information necessary to set solid goals and plans for their life.

My supposition was confirmed after visiting local high schools to pitch my idea. I discovered the following: There is a large number of students who are missing out on information about college, fafsa, and future careers simply because of a language barrier…these revelations were enough for me to officially begin working on the plan that had been brewing in my mind for the months prior.

Regalado means gifted in english. It has a dual symbolization: the first being my family name, the second representing the gifted students that only lack a solidified goal and the information needed to achieve it."
